Company Profile

CinemaWorks is a one stop-shop for anyone needing to design, build or operate cinemas anywhere in the world.  Originally based in Asia but now operating out of the UK, CinemaWorks has helped clients as far afield as China, Mongolia, Vietnam, Philippines, Ireland and the UK.

Headed by experienced cinema executive Ian Riches, CinemaWorks' scope of services includes:

Country Assessment.  CinemaWorks can research the potential for a cinema exhibition business in emerging or established territories and provide an in-depth assessment of that market's viability for investment.

Project feasibility.  CinemaWorks can carry out a full feasibility study on any proposed cinema in terms of both a business plan and conceptual layout. This applies equally to completely new builds as well as to proposed improvements to existing businesses such as adding more screens, concession (refreshment) stands, liquor bars, etc.

Initial layout and design of the proposed cinema. Our architectural associates can maximize the available space to ensure an efficient and cost-effective design with the optimum number of screens, seats and amount of circulation space.

Project management.  Through an associate company, Inter Management Network,  CinemaWorks can provide experienced project management to ensure the cinema is built to budget and on time.

FF&E Sourcing. From its extensive network of suppliers, CinemaWorks can find the most appropriate supplier of seats, projectors, sound equipment, screens etc. for any location anywhere in the world.

Operations. For new projects CinemaWorks can provide full operational management services, or simply set things up for local management to operate. We can also advise existing businesses on international "best practice" standards in order to help maximize revenue.

Clients have included:

Jiangsu Shengshi Asia Film Company, Nanjing China.

CinemaWorks advised this regional Chinese film company on its plans to build modern multiplex cinemas in Jiangsu Province and elsewhere in China.  CinemaWorks designed the first two complexes, in Nanjing and Wuhan, and introduced the company to prospective foreign investment partners including Warner Bros. International Cinemas and Onex Corporation.

Warner Bros. International Cinemas, China.

CinemaWorks assisted WBIC in the early stages of their China roll-out programme.

CinemaWorks advised the Araneta Group on the design, construction, fitting out and operation of their Cineplex 10 cinema in the Gateway Mall, Quezon City, Metro Manila. The cinema is now the most successful in the Philippines.

OzSeeker,  Eye Cinema, Galway, Ireland.

In conjunction with UK specialist leisure consultant, OzSeeker, CinemaWorks advised the developer of the spectacular Eye Cinema in Galway on the basic layout of the cinema, and sourced the cinema furnishings and equipment. MAP Anti-Piracy System

CinemaWorks is currently helping Talis International with the development of the MAP (Movie Anti Piracy) project. This patented system renders video recordings of movies taken from cinema screens virtually unwatchable, as well as monitoring the use of a cinema's projection system to prevent unauthorized use outside official operating hours.  The movie industry loses billions of dollars annually to piracy, the MAP system will help reduce this.
